Context
Sleep apnea affects about 30 million Americans. It is a disorder where breathing stops and starts
during sleep, which can lead to poor sleep quality, diabetes, strokes, heart attacks and even a
shortened lifespan.
A common treatment for sleep apnea is using a CPAP machine. This device keeps the airways open
by pushing air through a mask worn during sleep, which helps prevent breathing interruptions.
